TEG TECHNOLOGY PUTS CUSTOMER IN THE RUNNING FOR MAJOR ENVIRONMENT AWARD
25th September 2007
Technology designed by Lancashire based TEG Environmental has helped one of its customers reach the finals in a major industry Award.
Banham Compost of Norfolk is one of three companies being considered for the prestigious Let's Recycle awards for Waste Management in the Commercial and Public Sector.
The Awards ceremony will take place the Savoy Hotel, London, on Wednesday October 17, 2007 and among the principle guests will be Minister Joan Ruddock. The Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management are now in their fourth year and are designed to showcase innovation, dedication and success in recycling and sustainable waste management.
Attleborough based Banham Compost is a subsidiary of Banham Poultry, formed to create facilities to process animal by-products via composting, rendering and production of renewable electricity. The company invested £1.7 million in the innovative TEG Silo Cage system, designed, manufactured and installed by TEG Environmental. The plant, which comprises two banks of 24 Silo Cages and has a nominal capacity of 28,000 tonnes, began operating in December last year. Since then 100% of Banham's feather and hatchery waste is composted at the Carlton Rodes site and the company has reduced its carbon footprint by significantly reducing its waste transportation distances.
Commented Jayne Pierre, Commercial Director for TEG Environmental: "The Banham Compost plant was one of the first design and build projects undertaken by TEG and we are thrilled that its innovative approach to waste management has been recognised by the judges of these prestigious awards. We are all very hopeful that Banham will be the category winner when the results are announced on October 17th."
