21st century composting technology

5th June 2006

The last six months have seen major expansion for TEG Environmental, the green technology company, which converts organic wastes into natural organic fertiliser.

With two sites already operational in Preston, Lancashire and Perthshire, Scotland, TEG has two other sites currently under construction in Kildare, Ireland and Swansea in South Wales.  Both of these are expected to be operational later this year and plans are already in hand for a further three sites in Norfolk, Somerset and Yorkshire, all of which are due to be operational in 2007.

TEG's unique Silo Cage in-vessel thermophilic composting technology provides a uniquely engineered and sustainable means of treating organic waste.  The commercially viable end produce is a humus-rich organic fertiliser that can be returned to the land to improve soil conditions.

The TEG system facilitates accelerated high temperature composting to optimise pathogen kill.  The process meets the established composting standards demanded under the European Animal By Product (EU ABP) regulations.  This enables the company to process a wide range of waste streams from the major waste management companies, supermarkets and multinational food processors, all of which require approved plants to process their waste.

All sites are geared towards the production of high quality products in TEG's EnVigro[TM] range of high value, high quality organic fertilisers and derivatives, which are already used in a wide variety of agricultural and horticultural applications.

The system's modular design enables TEG  to provide a flexible and cost effective composting solution, with the ability to install custom-made plants to meet each customer?s optimum required capacity.

The composting process itself takes between 10 and 14 days to complete.  It is a continuous dry operation with no leachate produced and virtually no emissions.  Its treatment standards mean that pathogens are inactivated and the end product is stable and is easy to store and handle.

TEG Environmental's Chief Executive Mick Fishwick commented: "TEG's business is all about taking a more environmentally responsible attitude towards waste disposal and the rapid expansion of our business indicates a strong market requirement for fully organic composting plants."
